PIUMO is a young Polish brand founded in 2015 by the Lohman family, who remain deeply committed to their family traditions. With 30 years of knitting expertise, the founders—and now the second generation—have been dedicated to offering high-quality products from the start.
Initially, PIUMO focused mainly on merino wool and cashmere scarves and hats. Over time, the collection expanded to include new yarns (always with a touch of cashmere), sweaters (as part of the core line), ponchos, a dress, and a top. In 2024, PIUMO launched its first summer collection.
The brand’s founder, Anna Lohman, established PIUMO’s signature style: timeless minimalism, elegance, and the finest Italian yarn. Today, her vision is successfully carried forward by her children, Mania & Staś Lohman, who share her love for quality and classic minimalism.
PIUMO was born out of Anna Lohman’s love for Italy, which is evident in the names of the colors and the brand itself—piuma means “feather” in Italian.
This translation captures the brand’s premium feel, family heritage, and dedication to quality and Italian-inspired style.
At Piumo, nothing is left to chance.
For our hats, scarves, and sweaters, we use only three certified yarns sourced from one of the finest Tuscan mills. These include cashmere and merino wool of the highest quality.
Yarn #1 / 90% merino wool, 10% cashmere—These favorite pieces are made to last, retaining their quality over the years. They also have a unique selection of rare colors on the Polish market.
Yarn #2 / 95% cashmere, 5% merino wool – So soft and gentle on the skin, it’s a material you’ll never want to part with.
Yarn #3 / 30% cashmere, 70% merino wool – With the finest quality cashmere for softness and lightness and durable merino wool to enjoy for years.
Thanks to the rich texture of wool and the airy softness of cashmere, our products are both wonderfully soft and remarkably resilient – made to last for years!
Both of our yarns hold the most important certifications in the wool industry:
RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) – a global standard ensuring the holistic well-being of sheep, the land they graze on, and the entire wool supply chain, from certified farms to the final product.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) – the world’s leading certification for textiles focused on ecology and environmental protection. When you purchase a wool hat, scarf, or sweater made from GOTS-certified materials, you can trust that the wool and production process are kind to our planet.
MULESING FREE WOOL – Mulesing is a harmful and painful shearing practice that leaves sheep with wounds and scars. Our yarns are NEVER sourced this way and are entirely mulesing-free!
When we started our company nearly 30 years ago, we chose one thing above all: colors. Colors, colors, colors! And that passion has stayed with us ever since.
Our inspiration began at the world-renowned yarn fairs in Florence, where we were immersed in the vibrant world of Italian fashion and color. Italians, the pioneers of style and hue, shared their insights enthusiastically with us. At the same time, we couldn’t help but think of our beautiful Beskid mountains, blooming meadows, and bright blue skies.
Since day one, Piumo’s mission has been to bring energy and brightness to the world with our hats, scarves, and sweaters. That’s why we offer such a rich palette—over 60 colors to choose from. There’s truly something for everyone.
And those Italian names! We wouldn’t dream of changing them; we love their sound and elegance. Notte, sabiosso, billardo, cremisi, zafferano… and so many more.
The key to keeping our products in great condition is proper care. What can you do to ensure they last for years?
First and foremost, knitwear doesn’t need frequent washing—sometimes, a good airing out in the fresh air is enough.
When washing is required, follow these tips: ✨ Hand wash in lukewarm water
✨ Rinse with wool detergent. Gently press out excess water without wringing
✨ Shape and lay flat to dry on a towel
✨ Iron on a low setting
Let our cashmere treasures serve you beautifully for many years to come.
